Help Nkechi keep the Community Pantry pantry stocked
The Community Pantry pantry in Awka is running low just as demand rises; $400 will stock it for 12 weeks.
🇳🇬 Awka, Anambra, Nigeria1,478 views
Since 2019, our volunteer team has run Community Pantry every Sunday from the back of the mosque courtyard. We started with 8 families, and now we feed 173 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 30% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 11 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Awka market and keep every receipt.
Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $400 goes:
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $105
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $230
• Baby formula and diapers: $65
Thank you for reading my story.
