Ake is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying a master's in public health at Nakhon Ratchasima Polytechnic, and is one term away from graduating. He has worked as a delivery rider to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $1,000.
The registrar has said Ake can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Ake has a 3.9 average, and a faculty supervisor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Ake would lose his place and scholarship eligibility.
Ake isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student.
The payment will go directly to the Nakhon Ratchasima Polytechnic bursar's office. I'll post the receipt.
Where the $1,000 goes:
• Final term tuition: $640
• Outstanding tuition balance: $330
• Exam and lab fees: $30
