Heatwave in Siliguri: help the families of Marketplace Lane rebuild

Neighbors in the families of Marketplace Lane are rebuilding after the heatwave; every contribution goes to materials and supplies.

Siliguri
The heatwave hit the families of Marketplace Lane on 24 July. My home was one of 34 damaged, and 11 families are still in temporary shelter at the local school gym. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates. Where the $1,150 goes: • Roofing sheets and timber: $770 • Clean water and purification supplies: $155 • Tools and labor for repairs: $225 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Sending good thoughts, Pradeep. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. After 29 years in engineering I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Thinking of Siliguri
