I live with profound hearing loss. My occupational therapist at the Parma Rehabilitation Centre has assessed me and recommended a prosthetic leg. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $5,150.
My current equipment is 12 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 12 weeks.
With the right equipment I could speak with the people around her. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
Where the $5,150 goes:
• Fitting and training sessions: $310
• prosthetic leg: $4,650
• First-year servicing plan: $190
