Freedom Park needs a solar-powered water pump - Abena's neighborhood project
Volunteers in Tarkwa are raising $500 for a solar-powered water pump at Freedom Park.
🇬🇭 Western, Ghana942 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 9 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Freedom Park, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $500.
It will serve about 554 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in June and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $500 goes:
• Materials: $320
• Permits and inspections: $65
• Safety equipment and signage: $35
• Tools hire and delivery: $80
Thanks for reading all this.

How is Abena doing now?
Hang in there. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I have a 13 year old who wants to send good wishes too
Wishing you peace. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. Thinking of Tarkwa.
Keep going, Abena. More neighborhoods should do this. Wish I lived closer to Gold Coast so I could bring a meal
Take care. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Blessings.
