Last April I went through a long illness, and I'm now raising a toddler and a seven-year-old on my own. I work as a school kitchen assistant, but my income doesn't cover rent, childcare and groceries. I'm retraining as a web developer in the evenings, which will triple my income by August, but I need to bridge the gap until then. Some weeks I skip meals so my children can eat. I have never asked anyone for help like this before, and I'm doing it for them. Once I finish my course, I'll pay it forward. Money goes toward rent, groceries, after-school care and the cost of my course. I'll give a monthly update with receipts. Where the $600 goes: • Course fees and exam costs: $140 • Rent top-up: $260 • Groceries and school meals: $200 Thank you for reading my story. - Francisco

Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My neighbor in London donated after I showed her your page. Thinking of San Nicolás de los Garza.

          • I hope your landlord gives you a bit more time while this comes together. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Love from Cleveland.

            • Sending good thoughts. A secure home matters so much. Hope you're settled soon. Greetings from Paris.

              • I was in a similar spot a few years ago and it did get better. Sent it to 32 people at work. Blessings

                • Keep going. I was in a similar spot a few years ago and it did get better. After 27 years in teaching I know how hard it is to ask for anything

                  • You're not alone. Shared it with a few friends. My husband and I read this together
