Flood in Petrópolis: help the Marketplace settlement rebuild
After the flood, families in the Marketplace settlement need clean water, roofing materials and bedding.

The flood hit the Marketplace settlement on 3 August. My home was one of 54 damaged, and 6 families are still in temporary shelter at the community hall.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates.
Where the $1,900 goes:
• Clean water and purification supplies: $270
• Roofing sheets and timber: $870
• Food parcels for displaced families: $420
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $340
Glad we found this place.

Wishing you peace, Tiago. Your post was clear and honest. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Greetings from Thủ Đức.
rooting for you. This could happen to any of us. Put this on a community board in São Paulo this morning. Love from São Paulo
Rooting for you. Gave what I could, wish it was more. After 14 years in retail I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
