Flood in Istanbul: help the families of Riverside Lane rebuild
After the flood, families in the families of Riverside Lane need clean water, roofing materials and bedding.

The flood hit the families of Riverside Lane on 24 June. My home was one of 86 damaged, and 3 families are still in temporary shelter at the community hall.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters.
Where the $1,950 goes:
• Roofing sheets and timber: $970
• Clean water and purification supplies: $270
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $210
• Food parcels for displaced families: $260
• Tools and labor for repairs: $240
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

This could happen to any of us. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. Thinking of Istanbul.
