Gustavo was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in November. The oncology team at the San Sebastián Oncology Institute has planned 4 rounds of treatment, starting in February. He will be away from work for about 8 weeks. Gustavo is 44, worked as a nurse until November, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the San Sebastián Oncology Institute 5 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $2,250 goes: • Scans and lab work: $1,100 • Transport to the San Sebastián Oncology Institute: $590 • Household costs while unable to work: $560 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.
