Owen needs an adapted tricycle - help us make it happen
Owen needs an adapted tricycle that the health system won't fund; the cost is $2,300.
🇬🇧 United Kingdom185 views
Owen lives with a rare neuromuscular condition. The occupational therapist at the Glasgow Rehabilitation Centre has assessed him and recommended an adapted tricycle. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $2,300.
His current equipment is 11 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined him to home for 8 weeks.
With the right equipment Owen could go outside without waiting for someone to push. It would change everyday life for the whole family.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
I'll pay the supplier directly from the funds, and I'll post a photo once the equipment is delivered.
Where the $2,300 goes:
• adapted tricycle: $1,650
• Fitting and training sessions: $230
• Delivery and set-up: $70
• First-year servicing plan: $350
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Owen.
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. adapted tricycle comes first ($1,650) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. I'll keep the page updated.
Rooting for you. Hope the doctors have good news. Thinking of Glasgow
Thinking of you. Shared it with a few friends. Put this on a community board in New York this morning
