Fighting stomach cancer: help Devi afford treatment in Johannesburg
Supporting Devi through stomach cancer: medication, transport to the Johannesburg Oncology Institute, and living costs while She can't work.
🇿🇦 South Africa665 views
Devi was diagnosed with stomach cancer in August. The oncology team at the Johannesburg Oncology Institute has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in October. She will be away from work for about 4 weeks.
Devi is 30, worked as a bank teller until August, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Johannesburg Oncology Institute 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes.
Where the $2,550 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $1,450
• Scans and lab work: $200
• Transport to the Johannesburg Oncology Institute: $190
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $155
• Household costs while unable to work: $555
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.
