Plant 3,700 native trees around the Sycamore riverbank in Bogotá
Volunteers are restoring the Sycamore riverbank in Bogotá; $650 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
🇨🇴 Bogotá D.C., Colombia389 views
The Sycamore riverbank has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 120 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 56 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the local forestry office, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $650 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $440
• Waste removal and skip hire: $70
• Tools and protective gear: $140
Thanks for being kind about this.

Hang in there, Marisol. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Put this on a community board in Yonkers this morning.

Gave what I could, wish it was more. Love from Rome.
good luck. Your post was clear and honest. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Love from Da Nang
