Upendo is facing stage 3 ovarian cancer and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.

Upendo was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer in April. The oncology team at Mombasa Cancer Centre has planned 4 rounds of treatment, starting in July. She will be away from work for about 12 weeks. Upendo is 35, worked as a nurse until April, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Mombasa Cancer Centre 2 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes. Where the $1,900 goes: • Household costs while unable to work: $340 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $1,400 • Transport to Mombasa Cancer Centre: $160 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself. - Caroline
