Fighting kidney cancer: help Brenda afford treatment in Sherbrooke

Brenda is facing kidney cancer and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.

Brenda was diagnosed with kidney cancer in June. The oncology team at the Sherbrooke Oncology Institute has planned 8 rounds of treatment, starting in September. She will be away from work for about 6 weeks. Brenda is 42, worked as a primary school teacher until June, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Sherbrooke Oncology Institute 3 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes. Where the $8,100 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $6,500 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $750 • Transport to the Sherbrooke Oncology Institute: $850 Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.
