In May I was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma. My oncology team at George Regional Medical Center has planned 12 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in June. I was told to expect about 10 weeks away from work.
I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 24, I worked as a bank teller until May, and I have been the main earner for my household.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to George Regional Medical Center 5 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly.
My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $700 goes:
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $135
• Household costs while unable to work: $350
• Transport to George Regional Medical Center: $215
