San Francisco
In November I was diagnosed with early-stage lung cancer. My oncology team at the San Francisco Oncology Institute has planned 12 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in February. I was told to expect about 10 weeks away from work. I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 48, I worked as a farmer until November, and I have been the main earner for my household. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to the San Francisco Oncology Institute 2 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly. My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries. I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes. Where the $10,850 goes: • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $840 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $7,000 • Scans and lab work: $1,800 • Transport to the San Francisco Oncology Institute: $1,210 Glad we found this place.

Updates from Harper

  1. Quick update: $1,531 raised so far (14%). I met with the treatment center and confirmed the amounts. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.

  2. Small update. $1,261 so far, the plan for transport to the San Francisco Oncology Institute is now scheduled.

  3. Update from San Francisco: the plan for chemotherapy and medication not covered is now scheduled. We're at 6% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

The list at the bottom is the whole picture. nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team is the biggest at $840. Ask me anything else.

  • Take care. Wishing Harper a smooth procedure and a full recovery. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Love from Savar.

    • Sending strength, Harper. Shared it with a few friends. My cousin had a similar thing happen so this one hit home.
