Cox's Bazar
In July I was diagnosed with colon cancer. My oncology team at Cox's Bazar University Hospital has planned 12 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in September. I was told to expect about 10 weeks away from work. I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 56, I worked as a farmer until July, and I have been the main earner for my household. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Cox's Bazar University Hospital 4 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly. My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $1,450 goes: • Transport to Cox's Bazar University Hospital: $135 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $80 • Household costs while unable to work: $230 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $1,005 Thanks for being kind about this.
