Quinn was diagnosed with colon cancer in October. The oncology team at San Diego University Hospital has planned 10 rounds of treatment, starting in January. She will be away from work for about 4 weeks.
Quinn is 52, worked as a bakery worker until October, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to San Diego University Hospital 5 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $13,600 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $8,000
• Scans and lab work: $1,300
• Transport to San Diego University Hospital: $1,350
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $790
• Household costs while unable to work: $2,160
