Fighting cervical cancer: help Iván afford treatment in San Francisco
Iván is facing cervical cancer and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.
🇺🇸 California, United States227 views
In June I was diagnosed with cervical cancer. My oncology team at San Francisco Cancer Centre has planned 4 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in September. I was told to expect about 8 weeks away from work.
I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 52, I worked as a nurse until June, and I have been the main earner for my household.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to San Francisco Cancer Centre 4 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly.
My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $8,400 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $4,450
• Household costs while unable to work: $2,500
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $500
• Scans and lab work: $950
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.
