The the Thursday Table pantry in Coimbatore is running low just as demand rises; $400 will stock it for 8 weeks.

Since 2019, our volunteer team has run the Thursday Table every Monday from the back of the old library basement. We started with 21 families, and now we feed 64 each week. Donations have dropped by about 49% this winter, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 14 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Coimbatore market and keep every receipt. Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $400 goes: • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $85 • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $280 • Refrigeration and electricity: $35 Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

Updates from Janani

  1. Update from Coimbatore: we've started the first stage. We're at 25% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  2. Small update. $50 so far, I made the first payment toward refrigeration and electricity.

  3. Wanted to say thank you properly. 3% funded and I met with the wholesaler and confirmed the amounts.

  • Hope it all works out, Janani. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer.

    • I hope things turn around soon. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Love from Soweto

      • Hang in there, Janani. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Blessings
