Feed 385 families each week at Neighbors' Pantry in Cambridge

The Neighbors' Pantry pantry in Cambridge is running low just as demand rises; $2,800 will stock it for 12 weeks.

Since 2019, our volunteer team has run Neighbors' Pantry every Tuesday from the back of a borrowed garage. We started with 18 families, and now we feed 385 each week. Donations have dropped by about 52% this summer, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 14 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Cambridge market and keep every receipt. Each $30 feeds a family of four for a week. I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday. Where the $2,800 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $1,450 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $770 • Baby formula and diapers: $280 • Refrigeration and electricity: $300 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
