Feed 262 families each week at Bread & Beans Kitchen in Birmingham
Help keep a free food pantry open for families and seniors in Birmingham.

Since 2023, our volunteer team has run Bread & Beans Kitchen every Wednesday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 12 families, and now we feed 262 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 31% this winter, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 19 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Birmingham market and keep every receipt.
Each $50 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $2,650 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $1,100
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $940
• Baby formula and diapers: $340
• Refrigeration and electricity: $270
Glad we found this place.
