Since 2023, our volunteer team has run the Harvest Pantry every Sunday from the back of the parish hall. We started with 28 families, and now we feed 207 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 58% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 16 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Laredo market and keep every receipt.
Each $60 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $2,450 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $1,500
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $530
• Baby formula and diapers: $320
• Refrigeration and electricity: $100

What exactly is the $2,450 for?
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale) comes first ($1,500) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Let me know if you want more detail.
