Nkechi, my grandmother, passed away on 1 August after a long fight with kidney disease. She was 69 years old. She was the heart of our family and had no savings or life insurance.
The funeral home has given us a quote of $400 and the cemetery needs payment before the burial date of 19 August.
I have already used what I had for the hospital bills. My family is scattered, and many of us are out of work. We want Nkechi to have a dignified farewell.
Any help at all means a lot, and so do your prayers.
Anything left over after the funeral will be donated to the Abuja hospice.

• Funeral home services and casket: $210
• Cemetery plot and burial fees: $115
• Transport of the deceased: $25
• Memorial gathering for the family: $50
