Emergency vet bill for Maple in Johannesburg
A rabbit named Maple needs orthopedic surgery - a $550 bill the family can't cover.

Maple is my rabbit of two years. On 5 March we rushed to Johannesburg Animal Hospital with a broken leg after a road accident. The vet recommends orthopedic surgery, and the estimate came to $550.
They have stabilized Maple, but the treatment can't wait beyond May.
Maple is more than a pet - Maple is a retired therapy animal who has comforted dozens of patients. I have already put $25 toward the bills and asked for a payment plan.
Whatever I can't raise, I'll repay to anyone who needs it back.
If more is raised than needed, the surplus goes to Johannesburg Animal Hospital's charity fund for other animals.
Where the $550 goes:
• Emergency surgery: $350
• Hospitalization (2 nights): $85
• Medication and follow-up visits: $95
• Diagnostics (X-ray, bloodwork): $20
