Emergency vet bill for Bruno in Bakersfield
Bruno, Alejandra's three-legged dog, needs urgent treatment for a ruptured cruciate ligament costing $1,700.

Bruno is my three-legged dog of nine years. On 15 June we rushed to Bakersfield Animal Hospital with a ruptured cruciate ligament. The vet recommends an operation to remove the blockage, and the estimate came to $1,700.
They have stabilized Bruno, but the treatment can't wait beyond August.
Bruno is more than a pet - Bruno got me through my hardest year. I have already put $380 toward the bills and asked for a payment plan.
Whatever I can't raise, I'll repay to anyone who needs it back.
If more is raised than needed, the surplus goes to Bakersfield Animal Hospital's charity fund for other animals.
Where the $1,700 goes:
• Diagnostics (X-ray, bloodwork): $270
• Emergency surgery: $1,300
• Medication and follow-up visits: $130
Thanks for being kind about this.
- Alejandra
Updates from Alejandra
Good news. Because of your gifts ($216 in total) the plan for medication and follow-up visits is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
We're at 5% thanks to 5 of you. I made the first payment toward diagnostics. More news soon.

Thinking of you and your family, Alejandra. Hope you get there. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. God bless.
Thanks for sharing this, Alejandra. I hope things turn around soon. Don't give up. God bless.
Wishing you the best, Alejandra. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. All the best.
