Emergency hernia repair for Isaiah: covering what insurance won't
After severe cataracts in both eyes, Isaiah was cleared for emergency hernia repair, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Isaiah was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in March. The surgeon at San Jose University Hospital recommended emergency hernia repair, and He is scheduled for June. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $7,750, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $6,250 short.
my husband has been in and out of San Jose University Hospital since March. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without emergency hernia repair. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $7,750 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Isaiah struggles with daily life and can't drive. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Isaiah won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
