Douglas lives with profound hearing loss. The occupational therapist at the Toronto Mobility Clinic has assessed him and recommended a stair-climbing aid. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $8,750.
His current equipment is 8 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined him to home for 12 weeks.
With the right equipment Douglas could speak with the people around him. It would change everyday life for the whole family.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
Where the $8,750 goes:
• stair-climbing aid: $8,000
• Fitting and training sessions: $250
• Delivery and set-up: $180
• First-year servicing plan: $320
