I coordinate donations at the Acacia Family Centre in Red Deer. Every year around this time we hear from families who have nothing warm for their children, and this year demand has more than doubled. We're collecting clean, gently used or new coats, boots, hats, gloves and scarves in sizes 2 to 14 years. If you're in Red Deer, we can arrange a pick-up or you can drop things at the Acacia Family Centre on Thursday between 11am and 3pm. If you're elsewhere, you may offer to sponsor a coat through a local shop - message in the comments and we can coordinate. Items go to families directly and the rest to the the Acacia Family Centre clothing bank, which is open to everyone. You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

  • So sorry you're going through this, Eliana. A secure home matters so much. Hope you're settled soon. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend

    • Sending good thoughts, Eliana. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Blessings

      • I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. After 17 years in teaching I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Take care.
