I'm caring for my mother, who's 85. After worsening Parkinson's disease Zainab can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Zainab desperately wants to stay at home. I work 25 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer. Zainab worked all of her life as a factory worker, and raised 3 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back. Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for three months will make a huge difference. The carer will be employed through a registered agency and paid directly. I'll share the agency invoices. Where the $400 goes: • Part-time carer (three months): $240 • Medication and prescriptions: $50 • Hospital bed and mattress rental: $25 • Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $85 Thank you for reading my story.

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Zainab

Sure. The biggest one is part-time carer (three months), $240. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. It helps to be asked.

    • hope things get better soon. Hope you get there. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. All the best

      • Praying for you, Festus. Hope the doctors have good news. Love from Dnipro.

        • Keep going, Festus. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Take care

          • Hang in there, Festus. Wishing Zainab a smooth procedure and a full recovery. My neighbor in Kota donated after I showed her your page. God bless.
