Dignity in old age: caring for Yolanda
Yolanda can't afford the care She needs after a stroke last June; we're asking for $3,550.
🇺🇸 United States98 views
I'm caring for me, who's 80. After a stroke last June Yolanda can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Yolanda desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 40 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Yolanda worked all of her life as a schoolteacher, and raised 4 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for eight months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $3,550 goes:
• Part-time carer (eight months): $2,750
• Medication and prescriptions: $370
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $220
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $210
I hope life is good to you.
