Dignity in old age: caring for Oisin
Help Oisin stay in his own home with eight months of part-time care.
Anywhere in the world1,110 views
I'm caring for my father, who's 96. After a heart attack Oisin can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Oisin desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 50 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Oisin worked all of his life as a farmer, and raised 2 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for eight months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $3,750 goes:
• Medication and prescriptions: $560
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $470
• Part-time carer (eight months): $2,720
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

how is Oisin doing now?
wishing you the best. Hope this works out for you. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected.
Is there anything that isn't money that would help Oisin?
Thank you. If you're in Cork I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Thanks for asking.
Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I'm in customer support myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Greetings from Negombo.
Keep going, Aisling. Shared this with my family.
wishing you peace. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double!
Gave what I could, wish it was more. Wish I lived closer to Heliopolis so I could bring a meal. Blessings.
