I'm caring for my father, who's 74. After a stroke last May Nicola can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Nicola desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 25 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Nicola worked all of his life as a bus driver, and raised 2 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for eight months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $4,300 goes:
• Medication and prescriptions: $440
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $360
• Part-time carer (eight months): $3,500
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
