Dignity in old age: caring for Nicholas
Help Nicholas stay in his own home with three months of part-time care.
Anywhere in the world311 views
I'm caring for my father, who's 75. After a stroke last February Nicholas can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Nicholas desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 40 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Nicholas worked all of his life as a shopkeeper, and raised 5 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for three months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $6,100 goes:
• Medication and prescriptions: $680
• Part-time carer (three months): $4,850
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $570
With deep gratitude,
Easton
