Dignity in old age: caring for Mthunzi

I'm caring for my father, who's 94. After a stroke last August Mthunzi can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Mthunzi desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 40 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Mthunzi worked all of his life as a seamstress, and raised 3 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for eight months will make a huge difference.
The carer will be employed through a registered agency and paid directly. I'll share the agency invoices.
Where the $1,000 goes:
• Part-time carer (eight months): $660
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $115
• Medication and prescriptions: $225

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Mthunzi.
It's all in the list in the story. part-time carer (eight months) is the big one at $660, I'll post a receipt when it's paid. Let me know if you want more detail.
