Dignity in old age: caring for Mercedes
Mercedes can't afford the care She needs after worsening Parkinson's disease; we're asking for $2,650.

I'm caring for me, who's 79. After worsening Parkinson's disease Mercedes can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Mercedes desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 50 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Mercedes worked all of her life as a farmer, and raised 4 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for three months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $2,650 goes:
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $290
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $360
• Part-time carer (three months): $2,000
I hope life is good to you.
