Dignity in old age: caring for Mateus

I'm caring for my father, who's 75. After the death of his spouse Mateus can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Mateus desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 30 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Mateus worked all of his life as a carpenter, and raised 3 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for six months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $1,250 goes:
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $85
• Medication and prescriptions: $155
• Part-time carer (six months): $1,010
