I'm caring for my mother, who's 95. After the death of her spouse Marisol can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Marisol desperately wants to stay at home. I work 25 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer. Marisol worked all of her life as a bus driver, and raised 2 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back. Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for eight months will make a huge difference. Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies. Where the $5,850 goes: • Part-time carer (eight months): $4,500 • Medication and prescriptions: $840 • Hospital bed and mattress rental: $270 • Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $240 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.
