Dignity in old age: caring for Maëlle
Maëlle, 93, needs daily care to stay at home, and the family is raising $750 for a carer and medicines.

I'm caring for my mother, who's 93. After worsening Parkinson's disease Maëlle can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Maëlle desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 40 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Maëlle worked all of her life as a farmer, and raised 5 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for eight months will make a huge difference.
The carer will be employed through a registered agency and paid directly. I'll share the agency invoices.
Where the $750 goes:
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $240
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $180
• Medication and prescriptions: $330
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.
