Dignity in old age: caring for Jordan
Jordan, 78, needs daily care to stay at home, and the family is raising $6,000 for a carer and medicines.

I'm caring for my father, who's 78. After worsening Parkinson's disease Jordan can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Jordan desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 40 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Jordan worked all of his life as a bus driver, and raised 5 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for eight months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.

• Part-time carer (eight months): $4,800
• Medication and prescriptions: $590
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $300
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $310
