Dignity in old age: caring for Jacob
Jacob can't afford the care He needs after a stroke last August; we're asking for $6,150.

I'm caring for my father, who's 85. After a stroke last August Jacob can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Jacob desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 25 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Jacob worked all of his life as a farmer, and raised 2 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for three months will make a huge difference.
The carer will be employed through a registered agency and paid directly. I'll share the agency invoices.
Where the $6,150 goes:
• Part-time carer (three months): $4,450
• Medication and prescriptions: $730
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $360
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $610
Thank you so much.
