I'm caring for my father, who's 93. After the death of his spouse Ignacio can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Ignacio desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 30 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Ignacio worked all of his life as a schoolteacher, and raised 4 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for six months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $1,100 goes:
• Part-time carer (six months): $640
• Medication and prescriptions: $250
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $135
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $75
