Dignity in old age: caring for Hiba
Hiba, 95, needs daily care to stay at home, and the family is raising $700 for a carer and medicines.

I'm caring for my mother, who's 95. After worsening Parkinson's disease Hiba can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Hiba desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 40 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Hiba worked all of her life as a shopkeeper, and raised 3 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for eight months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $700 goes:
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $50
• Part-time carer (eight months): $620
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $30
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.
