I'm caring for my mother, who's 87. After a heart attack Cristina can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Cristina desperately wants to stay at home. I work 30 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer. Cristina worked all of her life as a seamstress, and raised 4 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back. Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for three months will make a huge difference. Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies. Where the $1,450 goes: • Part-time carer (three months): $1,250 • Medication and prescriptions: $75 • Hospital bed and mattress rental: $75 • Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $50 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it. - Mateo

  • Wishing Cristina a smooth procedure and a full recovery. My cousin had a similar thing happen so this one hit home.

    • Thinking of you, Mateo. Shared this with my family.

      • Thanks for sharing this, Mateo. Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too.

        • Can I help in a way that isn't money? I'm near Santa Fe.

Sharing the link is the biggest thing. And if you know anything about part-time carer (three months), advice is welcome too. Good question.

        • Best of luck, Mateo. Your post was clear and honest

          • Sending strength. Your post was clear and honest. After 25 years in construction I know how hard it's to ask for anything.

            • Best of luck. Hope you get there. I went through something like this 9 years ago and strangers helped me out. All the best.

              • Hang in there. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Blessings

                • This could happen to any of us. My neighbor in San Jose donated after I showed her your page. Love from San Jose.
