Dignity in old age: caring for Bennett
Bennett, 95, needs daily care to stay at home, and the family is raising $6,850 for a carer and medicines.

I'm caring for me, who's 95. After a heart attack Bennett can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Bennett desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 25 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Bennett worked all of his life as a nurse, and raised 5 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for six months will make a huge difference.
The carer will be employed through a registered agency and paid directly. I'll share the agency invoices.
Where the $6,850 goes:
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $380
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $730
• Part-time carer (six months): $5,740
