Dignity in old age: caring for Banjong
Banjong, 75, needs daily care to stay at home, and the family is raising $650 for a carer and medicines.

I'm caring for my father, who's 75. After the death of his spouse Banjong can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Banjong desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 40 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Banjong worked all of his life as a factory worker, and raised 2 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for three months will make a huge difference.
The carer will be employed through a registered agency and paid directly. I'll share the agency invoices.
Where the $650 goes:
• Part-time carer (three months): $420
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $60
• Medication and prescriptions: $170
