Dignity in old age: caring for Autumn
Autumn, 76, needs daily care to stay at home, and the family is raising $2,000 for a carer and medicines.

I'm caring for me, who's 76. After a stroke last May Autumn can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Autumn desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 30 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Autumn worked all of her life as a bus driver, and raised 3 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for eight months will make a huge difference.
The carer will be employed through a registered agency and paid directly. I'll share the agency invoices.
Where the $2,000 goes:
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $300
• Part-time carer (eight months): $1,350
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $350
