Dignity in old age: caring for Arturo
Arturo, 87, needs daily care to stay at home, and the family is raising $2,000 for a carer and medicines.

I'm caring for my father, who's 87. After the death of his spouse Arturo can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Arturo desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 25 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Arturo worked all of his life as a nurse, and raised 2 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for eight months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.

• Medication and prescriptions: $250
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $290
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $310
