I'm caring for my mother, who's 76. After a diagnosis of dementia Aparecida can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Aparecida desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 40 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Aparecida worked all of her life as a shopkeeper, and raised 4 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for six months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $1,550 goes:
• Medication and prescriptions: $210
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $210
• Part-time carer (six months): $1,130

Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. medication and prescriptions comes first ($210) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Fair thing to want to know.
