Dignity in old age: caring for Anucha
Anucha, 75, needs daily care to stay at home, and the family is raising $1,500 for a carer and medicines.

I'm caring for my father, who's 75. After a diagnosis of dementia Anucha can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Anucha desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 25 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Anucha worked all of his life as a factory worker, and raised 2 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for six months will make a huge difference.
The carer will be employed through a registered agency and paid directly. I'll share the agency invoices.
Where the $1,500 goes:
• Part-time carer (six months): $1,100
• Medication and prescriptions: $190
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $115
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $95
